Scrap Chronicles, Part Two: DSKI Design

This post is part two of a four-part series exploring where I source the scraps that become Cravn Jewelry. Each chapter highlights one of the incredible makers and companies whose leftovers find their way into my studio and eventually into your jewelry box.

DSKI Design’s Story

Meet Eric Drzewianowski of DSKI Design, a Vermont-based artisan crafting books and leather goods that blend tradition and technology.

Eric began bookbinding in 2009 as an apprentice, where he learned the art of traditional bookmaking and developed a deep respect for craftsmanship. When he opened his own bindery, he specialized in creating custom books and sailing logs using nautical charts and topographic maps, each one a tangible piece of adventure. Over time, his collection expanded to include hiking, garden, and whiskey journals, all made with the same thoughtful attention to detail.

In 2015, Eric dove deeper into leatherwork, adding wallets, journal covers, and tote bags to his offerings. Every piece he creates reflects an appreciation for both old-world techniques and modern tools, beautifully balancing heritage craftsmanship with a clean, contemporary aesthetic. His work tells a story, one that resonates with the people who use his creations every day.

How Our Paths Crossed

Eric and I met at a cold outdoor market during the pandemic. We instantly connected over a shared love of craftsmanship and perhaps equally over our shared dislike of waste. He was thrilled that I could give his leather scraps a new life, and I was just as excited to take some off his hands.

Our first exchange took place in the parking lot at Shelburne Commons: two cars parked side by side, bins of leather moving from his trunk to mine, and a pair of earrings headed home to his wife in return.

The leather I source from Eric has become a staple in my studio. It’s perfect for making bracelets, plant hangers, and, of course, earrings, each piece carrying a little bit of his craftsmanship forward in a new form.

Every exchange like this reminds me why Cravn Jewelry exists—to celebrate creativity, sustainability, and connection. These scraps aren’t just leftover materials; they carry the story, care, and craftsmanship of the people who made them. By giving them new life, I get to continue those stories, transforming what might have been discarded into something beautiful, wearable, and lasting.
